I've been obsessed with baking bread lately. It reminds me of my kokum - my granny.

Baking bread is a family tradition I'm taking back. It is a tenuous link, but a link nonetheless. The smell of the bread baking reminds me of childhood, days of sunshine and green grass, and love that made me strong.

Seasons inevitably change. This is the circle. With spring coming, it's over 13 years since she left us. I don't mark her death anymore. I've turned a corner, and choose instead to embrace everything she gave to me in her lifetime.
