Unlike the MX-5 -- which allows an experienced driver to adjust the Mazda's cornering attitude with steering, brakes and throttle -- the Solstice's big, 18-inch rubber grips to the point of eternal understeer. For 2007, Mazda added a Power Retractable Hard Top (PRHT), that -- surprise, surprise -- doesn't impinge on the cloth-top MX-5's 5.3 cubic feet of trunk space (GM's roadsters offer four cu. ft.).
