"This one is basically interested in how people participate in the political process, whether it's voting and elections or campaigning or sitting on local boards and committees," said Bonita Beatty, who is an assistant professor in the department of Native studies at the University of Saskatchewan.
As for Beatty's project, it will explore how Aboriginal populations in northern Saskatchewan engage in political processes and examine the factors that explain these patterns of engagement. Furthermore, it will work towards increasing society's understanding of Aboriginal people in northern Saskatchewan and how they view their political system.Beatty's PhD dissertation and Master of Arts thesis both focused on topics based in North Saskatchewan.
