Summary


The novel's heroine, Saira Qader, watches over the sleeping form of her sister's child after tragedy has struck. It's a moment that forces her to reflect on the past and sift through the secrets that have shaped her own story.

[Nafisa Haji]'s main strength lies in her ability to bring characters to life. Two her most memorable are Saira's Big Namina (her grandmother's sister) and her cousin Mohsin.

Haji's strength in characterization fails to extend to her story's heroine and thus, it will be hard for readers to become emotionally invested. Saira is one-dimensional and lacklustre.
