Summary
Another reason is probably the prime rib roast -- ours was tender and flavourful and came in precisely the degree of rareness requested. ($21.95 for the Gent's cut, $19.95 for the Lady's), partnered by quite a nice, moist Yorkshire pudding. On the principle that beef is the thing to have here (the menu tells us it's all AAA aged Angus beef) we also tried a New York steak sandwich -- garnished with fries, mushrooms, onions rings and a pleasant cole slaw -- and it too was tasty and tender ($12.95).
Rae & Jerry's is where, in fact, many of us did grow up, and there can't be more traditional dinners than R & J's prime rib roast, albeit without Yorkshire pudding. Other old reliables are steaks, calves' liver and simple preparations of fresh fish. For a lovely country inn in a glorious setting, the Gates on Roblin is unique, and there's roast beef here too (but no pudding), as well as braised bison short ribs, roast chicken and pork tenderloin. Some other Sunday possibilities -- not necessarily for roast beef -- are Orlando's (seafood), Billabong (Australian), Café Carlo (eclectic and modern Italian) and most hotel dining rooms. Whatever your choice, make sure it isn't closed for its summer holiday.See the full content of this document
