"He'd do outrageous things that progressive Democratic women, you'd think, would reject out of hand," McKinnon recounted. "Like [Ann Richards] would come campaign for Charlie Wilson. She'd get off the plane and there'd be a bunch of women in camouflage bikinis handing out gun rags. All she could do was laugh, and say, 'That's Charlie,"' said McKinnon, who later made TV ads for Republican George W. Bush.
