Now those same 32,000 people received notices this week that they had to repay not only the EI payment, the feds wanted them to cough up the tax that the feds held back. Plus, if they don't pay it back by Jan. 22, then Ottawa will withhold 50 per cent of their next EI benefit.
"I want to figure out why we have to pay the tax back when we never received it," said Tracy, a stay-at-home new mom with an eight-month old child.
