Don't drive by my house and throw pucks through my windows in a fit of jealousy. According to my mom, I'll have my share of sleepless nights when my girls become teens. She didn't rest comfortably until I was 30.
Being a parent of kids in sports requires more than sleep deprivation, it needs a ton of involvement. Hockey is no different. But there are parental rewards. One is watching kids' skills improve. The other is seeing them move out. But until the latter happens, it's good to have children involved in an activity where charging doesn't mean replenishing a battery. If I did, though, it's likely I'd need my dad to help me with my skates. Not because I couldn't tie them tightly.
