"I lost my son and I want him back," said his mother, Jin Hye Kwon, when reached at her home in Colorado last night. "I worry a lot -- he's only 10 years old; he doesn't know what's going on," she sobbed. "They don't allow me to speak to him."

"At the time he kidnapped (the boy)... it was his intent to flee the jurisdiction of the United States to South Korea. These facts are indicative of his willingness to use the protections of South Korea to avoid prosecution for crimes committed within the United States."

Jeff Dorschner said that while the boy's mother and stepfather desperately want him back, neither they nor police can simply go to South Korea and take him from his grandmother and fly him home because of complicated "diplomatic" issues that must be addressed.
