Summary

The state of concert venues being what it is in Canada, however, bars are often the only venues in which [Tony Dekker] and the Great Lake Swimmers are booked (though tonight at 8 p.m. in Winnipeg, they're playing the more apt West End Cultural Centre; admission is $15). It is not always a completely satisfactory arrangement, Dekker's low-key folk battling for attention with the clanking of glasses and chatter of uninterested patrons. But he has weathered the storm.

Dekker, Erik Arnesen (banjo), Colin Huebert (drums) and Julie Fader (keyboards) are currently on tour to support Ongiara, Dekker's third release under the Great Lake Swimmers banner. He's in good company on the release, with guests such as Serena Ryder, Bob Egan of Blue Rodeo, Sarah Harmer, and Owen Pallett of Final Fantasy and Arcade Fire contributing to the musical journey.
