"These include the $665-million Red River Floodway expansion, Manitoba Hydro's new $258-million head office building in downtown Winnipeg, and a $560-million upgrade to the Winnipeg airport."

Deputy chief economist Paul Ferley said BMO's forecast is based on the assumption Manitoba farmers will harvest much better crops this year than last, when excessive rains washed away any hopes for a good harvest. But if the current drought-like conditions do the same thing this year, that will put a crimp in the province's overall economic performance, Ferley said.
