Another highlight of his 2009 Goldeyes season was his second-overall placing among NL hitters with 90 RBI, which broke the Goldeyes' franchise record of 88 by Terry Lee in 1996.

Overall, [Juan Diaz] batted .317 in 95 games with the Goldeyes, good for sixth overall in the league, and led NL hitters with a .598 slugging percentage and .981 OPS (on-base percentage combined with slugging percentage).

Diaz was twice selected as NL player of the week, represented Winnipeg at the NL all-star game and earned a spot on the NL post-season all-star team. He was named by Sportsticker as its "Star of Stars" for the Northern League.
