Dear Feeling Sick: Here's a little test. Say to your partner, "I'd like to go to the beach with all of you!" If your partner says, "Oh that's great," start worrying less. If she says a quick "Oh no!" followed by some scrambling-type questions like, "Don't you have to work that day?" or "My friend has a very small car" or "I thought you didn't like the beach," counter with ways to get past those things. If she still argues, she doesn't want you at the beach. Then you can worry and it's time to ask the burning question, with an explanation: "Are you interested in the friend you keep mentioning, because I'm getting those vibes by the things you say and do and the visits you have obviously made to her place." Ask her for frankness by saying, "I'm feeling bad and I really need to hear the whole truth from you." Then you must be prepared to hear anything.
