"It's a younger team, we've got nine girls that are new to the team but we do have three girls returning from last year's team," said head coach Allison Laferty, referring to Mubo Ilelaboye, Maria Pawlyshyn and Pawandeep Sidhu. "It's nice they've been able to share their experience of what it's like to be in this position. They talked about the fact that once they got used to the excitement of the atmosphere (in the Final Four), they thrived on it."

"In basketball we've always been in there competing but in the 50 years (of Silver Heights school history), we've never made a provincial final and we've never won a provincial championship," said Huskies head coach Kirby Schepp, whose team comes in seeded No. 1. "That's been our focus, since the end of last year, really. We met as a team with the kids that were coming up from junior varsity and the varsity and put it on the line. It was a goal right from the start to win a provincial championship this year."
