[Taylor], who isn't a musician, pitched his idea to the Ministry of Culture in Ottawa five times. He spoke with a dozen or so politicians, who all said his idea was great, but they couldn't figure out how to fund it since it didn't "fit program parameters." Taylor then got funding from the National Capital Commission and private donors.He got the idea for the guitar after a 1995 conversation with Rizsanyi, who mentioned he doesn't like using exotic woods because Canadian wood is some of the best in the world.
