Internationals On Fire

Summary

"It was a win that looked comfortable, but I can tell you it wasn't the same for us," said [Stuart Appleby]. "We knew a win was going to be critical for the team, but we really had to play well out there. Eleven-under felt easy at the end, but it wasn't. But it was a nice set of opponents to beat like that."

The day belonged to the Internationals, but in particular to [Vijay Singh] and Appleby, who lost 2-1 to the U.S. pair two years ago at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club outside Washington. Friday, they took apart the U.S.'s top-rated duo, based on their world rankings at No. 1 and No. 3, with a combined seven birdies and two eagles. They were 11-under-par for the 14 holes the match lasted.
