That's because every time the Canucks get cut, the Moose bleed a little. On Wednesday night, three Canucks got hurt, including Ryan Kesler along with [Cooke] and [Burrows]. Sure enough, on Thursday, the Moose's NHL parent club recalled forwards Nathan Smith and Jannik Hansen. And so it goes.

Here's today's conundrum: Both the Canucks and the Moose enter their respective playoffs as major post-season players. But how can both an NHL team and its affiliate go deep into playoff runs simultaneously, given that it's a war of attrition that can last up to 28 games over two months?

That's if you get them back, of course. Which is why Moose GM Craig Heisinger, along with head scout Bruce Southern, have spent so much energy and hours identifying potential replacements to fill the holes along the bumpy way. It's also why Canucks draft picks such as first-rounder Michael Grabner and defenceman Daniel Rahimi will be incorporated into the Moose fold for the team's final two regular-season games.
