More significantly, the poll suggests only 17 per cent of Winnipeggers say the mayor is doing his job "very well" while 52 per cent say he's handling his duties "fairly well."

"It's fairly obvious it's a one-sided election for the mayor's chair. I'm fairly confident a majority of the support will go to [Sam Katz]," the pollster said. "But there is no direct relationship between his popularity and the vote."

"Soft support is what I've been hearing for the last three months. Winnipeggers are underwhelmed," claimed [Kaj Hasselriis]. "While Winnipeggers as a whole are not openly hostile to Sam Katz, they are not excited by him."
