Former mayor Glen Murray was a card-carrying member of the NDP when he led a left-wing coalition trying to undermine then-mayor Susan Thompson, but his political credentials were worthless when he started making bothersome demands on the ruling NDP. In fact, rather than endorse the party in an election period, Mr. Murray merely urged voters to support the political party that made the most promises for Winnipeg. Ms. Thompson was connected to the business community, but it meant nothing when she made demands on Tory premier Gary Filmon, who told her to clean up her own house.
