"We're talking to guys like Randy Bachman and a number of expat Manitobans who have done well in the arts to come home in 2010 and perform and become involved in some of these events. We obviously don't have any specific dates for special events, and I'm not trying to be coy right now, but stay tuned," Manitoba Homecoming executive director Kevin Walters said at yesterday's event launch at The Forks.
"There's a lot of things going on in the province, and I think it's time we celebrate them and create ambassadors among ourselves. And some of our greatest ambassadors are expats that no longer live here. Some of them are our biggest boosters and our biggest fans. You're always a Winnipegger or Manitoban. If you're living in Toronto, you're still a Winnipegger or Manitoban," Walters said.Homecoming 2010 officially kicked off yesterday with a press conference and concert at The Forks featuring Eagle and Hawk, Doc Walker, Keith and Renee, Waking Eyes and Inward Eye.
