Vitally concerned by the lack of qualified carpenters in the city, the Brandon local of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners has requested the establishment of a carpenters trade school in the city. FORTY YEARS AGO Opposition leader Gil Mogat called a press conference at Brandon's Prince Edward Hotel to announce that he is writing to Premier Walter Weir to urge that the city of Brandon be chosen as the location for the government's proposed $1 million agricultural research centre.
