More than three years after an anonymous tip to Manitoba Conservation, a former Carberry lounge owner has been fined for violating the provincial smoking ban.Judge John Combs fined Jamie Betle a total of $1,500 for three counts of violating the Non-Smokers Health Protection Act for letting people light up in his establishment.Betle, who was the owner of Sprucewoods Pizza and Slider's Lounge, didn't appear in Brandon provincial court yesterday and was convicted by default for the offences that date to February of 2005.
