"It's another part of how you can help with the music culture in the city and I believe that music is such a valuable part of your life," said [Marlene Stephen], who in June retired from a 41-year teaching career, of which 25 years were spent as a band teacher. "This is just a great opportunity to see local talent doing a lot of well known stage shows."
"It is absolutely fabulous to see the kids in the musical theatre portion of music - the dancing and the singing," said Stephen, who also sits on Rainbow Stage's volunteer board of directors. "We are so always concerned about our bottom line -- anything we can do to help with the bottom line so we can put on fabulous shows," said Stephen, a St. Vital resident. "Every little bit helps, so the $12,000 we make in a run with 50/50 is a little part of the whole scheme.
