WINNIPEG - Convicted police killer Laurie Bell is about to be released from prison, despite concerns about her violent behaviour behind bars, lack of insight and remorse and risk of re-offending, according to court documents. The Correctional Service of Canada has the authority to refuse statutory release in case where the offender is deemed an imminent danger to society, but has not opposed Bell's release, even though the Parole Board has found her to pose an "undue risk to commit a violent offence."
