Summary:

At the end of the service, [Shawn McCaughey]'s casket was carried back outside the hanger. Mourners watched the five CF-18 planes, chosen by McCaughey's family because he hoped to fly them one day, soar overhead in a tight arrow. As they passed, the second jet from the middle shot straight up in the air, symbolizing the missing man.

It was placed between the noses of two planes -- one a CT-114 Tutor jet that's flown by the Snowbirds, and the other a CT-156 Harvard II, the plane McCaughey flew as an instructor.
