"We want to show the world that Saskatoon does strive to come together," said Natasha Beeds, co-ordinator for the Saskatoon leg of the Harmony Run. "There is always so much negative publicity, violence in the world. This is something positive."
The number of runners taking part in the Canadian leg of the run this year has fluctuated between four and six. The Harmony Run team that arrived in Saskatoon included four women from across Canada who are volunteering their time to the cause. Dressed in matching blue baseball caps and coats, the runners were from Victoria, Calgary and Ottawa. The runners arrived in Swift Current, the first Saskatchewan stop of their voyage, on May 2, then made their way to Saskatoon. After leaving Saskatoon, additional Saskatchewan stops in Regina and Yorkton were planned before the group crossed over into Manitoba."We want to give our world meaning and it's you people we have a stake in," said Dr. Larry King, manager of FNUC's Saskatoon campus, directing his comments to the teenagers sitting quietly in chairs.First Nations University Hosts World Harmony Run
