The rising cost of land, labour and building materials drove up new-home prices in Winnipeg at a faster clip than in most other parts of the country in March, according to new figures released Monday.
Manitoba Home Builders Association president Mike Moore said soaring oil prices are pushing up the cost of petroleum-based building materials, while rising gasoline prices are driving up the cost of transporting the materials from the manufacturing plants to the building sites.While Winnipeg saw one of the biggest increases in new-home prices in March, the increases here still paled in comparison to what's going on in Saskatchewan.See the full content of this document
