The dark bay Manitoba-bred filly, who began life on Gary Strath's tiny Stonyfield Farm outside Brandon, finished a disappointing fourth yesterday in the $250,000 Wonder Where Stakes, the final jewel in Canadian racing's Triple Tiara for three-year-old fillies.
Perhaps it showed. After stalking race leader Strike Softly all around the track, [Kimchi] rider Patrick Husbands let out the reins at the top of the stretch and Kimchi responded, drawing even with Strike Softly for the first time in the race.Kimchi was born on Strath's farm and is a half-sister to King of Jazz, who finished second in the 2005 Queen's Plate.
