"At that time, we bubble-wrapped myself, our commanding officer and one of the Environment Canada girl and people could pay $2 to shoot a ball at us," [Jamie Upshall] said. "It was pretty comical because we couldn't run or walk or anything! It turned out there was quite a few people who wanted to shoot at us so we got another $50 from that!"
"We had a cargo plane to unload at two in the morning and then a chopper had to go out for a rescue mission at 5 a.m., not your usual challenges when running a special event," said Upshall, a supply technician who was involved in unloading the plane and is also the fuel technician who had to fuel up the helicopter. "I was up pretty much the whole (24-hour) time. I slept for a couple of hours at eight in the morning when we were done and then I got up and worked again.""We don't have cheques here, I only thought about that later!" Upshall laughed. "I've locked up all the money so I'll bring it to the first base we stop at and get a cheque on my way back to Winnipeg."North Pole Suburb Cares About Kids
