North Shore pulp producer fined for waste discharge.

AV Terrace Bay, the owner-operators of a Terrace Bay pulp mill, pleaded guilty on Oct. 26 to seven offences for failing to ensure that mill effluent discharge and testing limits were maintained according to standards under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA).

The Ministry of Environment and Climate sad the company has been fined $250,000.

AV Terrace Bay runs a pulp mill converting wood into pulp using a kraft pulping process, which generates industrial effluent that undergoes primary and secondary treatment prior to being discharged into Lake Superior via Blackbird Creek.
