North Star Air inks service deal with Fort Severn.

Ontario's most northerly community has become business partners with North Star Air.

Community members in Fort Severn First Nation voted overwhelmingly to form a strategic business partnership with the regional passenger and freight air carrier.

The vote resulted in the signing of a letter of understanding for a revenue sharing agreement with members of the Fort Severn Council.

The agreement will see added flights into the Hudson Bay coastal community of 704, located 855 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.

"Our goal is to provide you with safe, reliable air service," said North Star Air CEO Frank Kelner in an Oct. 21 release. "With this strategic partnership, Fort Severn can benefit from competitive rates for both passenger service and air cargo."
