Addition of the Aspen to the Chrysler lineup is part of a move that has seen vehicles added to the Dodge and Jeep stables. The changes have the appearance of badge engineering with the Dodge Caliber becoming the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Liberty morphing into the Dodge Nitro.
The Aspen offers the Hemi V8 with the multiple displacement system that allows for highway cruising on four cylinders. This system may improve fuel economy, but the key word here is may because it also may not save gas. Some drivers will undoubtedly conclude that the Aspen is fuel thirsty. At least the winter conditions provided an opportunity to test the Aspen's automatic all-wheel-drive system.
