At the 2009 Canadian Orienteering Championships in Spruce Woods Provincial Park on Aug. 30, Steven Graupner of Winnipeg earned his first medal ever in the men's elite class with a silver in the middle distance and placed fifth in the long event. Reid Nelson of Winnipeg won bronze medals in men's 13-14 division in the sprint, middle, and long events. Damian Konotopetz of Winnipeg earned a bronze medal in the junior men's class in the sprint. In the men's 45 class, Don Roe of Gimli won silver in the long event.
