The Selkirk mental hospital's state-of-the-art wing is now open, but Tory critics say there's not enough nurses to staff it properly.

Ken Nattrass, the mental health centre's CEO, said the new wing is generously staffed. It's received funding for 56 new positions, mostly nurses, occupational and physiotherapists and other frontline staff.

Last month, civil service nurses like the ones in Selkirk who are members of Manitoba Government Employees Union won pay parity with Manitoba Nurses' Union after a battle with the province.
