During a telephone interview from his home in B.C., Lacey's oldest brother, [Russ Lacey], recalled Ron as "the kindest guy in the world."

"He never whined about it once. He would just say 'This is the way it is and it isn't bad.' "

"He would take people shopping and quite often it was non-handicapped people. He would drive people to Calgary and Regina. And last Christmas Eve, he drove a woman and her kid to see her parents in Kenora, and back. I'd say to him, 'It's winter, what if you drove into a ditch?' and he'd say he'd be OK."
