Phoenix is one of four Manitoba teams in the BMO National Club Championships Under-16 Boys/Girls adidas Cup, which began here Wednesday and will wrap up Monday. Also representing the province are the girls champions, Portage Trail, and provincial runners-up Phoenix (girls) and Winnipeg South End United (boys). Games will be played at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex, Norm Konowalchuk Stadium and Memorial Soccer Complex.

Phoenix head coach Malcolm Mitchell said that in preparation for their grueling schedule, "we are working with a nutritionist to prepare the boys for the tournament. We don't want them to burn out by the third game."

"The theory," says Mitchell, "is, you have to fill the gas (tank) in the morning, and keep it full all day long."
