"It seems easy -- you pick your date, come in, get your anesthetic and have your baby. But the reality is it's an abdominal incision and there's more risk in it," said Dr. Maggie Morris, medical director of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's Women's Health Program.

"Women really need to be aware of what it means to make that choice," she said. "It's not as simple as it looks."

"It's still being debated," she said. "We still have people on both sides of the fence."
