Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said the department is encouraging all Winnipeggers to sign up for its new Winnipeg E-Watch, an email service designed to help people keep track of property crimes in their area or other parts of the city. He said notices will be sent out biweekly.

"We want to get as much information out as possible because really policing is about information."

"We want to use this as a tool to get information out to the public."
