[Greg Selinger] said he would have to consult his records to determine when he might have received a briefing from Hydro staff. However, once the formal whistleblower complaint was filed in December 2008, Selinger said he "told Hydro to comply with all the proper procedures under legislation."
At a committee meeting earlier this month, Manitoba Hydro board chairman Vic Schroeder said he first became aware of the whistleblower's concerns in January 2007 and normally met twice monthly with Selinger to update him on Hydro.The complaint was filed first in December 2008 with the ombudsman's office, which is normally the first stop for any whistleblower complaint. But the ombudsman's office couldn't handle the highly technical allegations, so the complaint was handed over to the auditor general's office in April. When questions were raised about whether Auditor General Carol Bellringer could properly audit Hydro after serving on the Hydro board, the investigation was given back to the ombudsman last week.See the full content of this document
