According to a report heading to city council's public works committee on Tuesday, the new rolling bins would either be 240 litres -- roughly the capacity of four conventional blue boxes -- or 360 litres. It will cost the city $8.3 million to $11 million to purchase the bins, which would be emptied by a fleet of 20 vehicles.
"They're actually consulting with us, which is refreshing," said St. Boniface Coun. Dan Vandal, one of several city councillors who expressed displeasure with the way the northwest Winnipeg garbage contract was rolled out late last month.2. Switch to larger, rolling blue bins. Collection would still happen weekly, but households would receive a rolling, 240-litre blue bin that could be lifted automatically by arms extending from new trucks. These bins would be similar to the new garbage bins headed to northwest Winnipeg this winter.Public Invited to Talk Trash
