Also breaking the speed limit on Florida's northbound turnpike are John Trimble (Dylan Baker), a mild-mannered scientist who hasn't yet explained to his 15-year-old daughter, Violet (Emma Stone) why he's in such a hurry; Winston Salazar (Kevin Alejandro), an ex-con who hopes the race will allow him to leave his past behind while bonding with his half-brother, Sean (J.D. Pardo); Ellie Howe (Mircea Monroe), who's using the race as a means of keeping soldier boyfriend Rob Laird (Riley [Charles Martin Smith]) from going back to Iraq; and Hurricane Katrina survivors Ivy Chitty, Leigh Barnthouse and Susan Chamblee (Taryn Manning, Rochelle Aytes, Michael Hyatt), who think $32 million will go a long way toward rebuilding their lives and homes.

At first, he tells [Alex Tully] he's too late; the desperate husband makes it clear he's willing to resort to violence in order to get information that might help locate his wife, so Mr. Bright relents and Tully takes to the highway in his broken-down pickup truck, already behind the others and with seemingly little prospect of catching up.
