Summary:

Two transportation and logistics leaders, Montreal's TransForce Income Fund and Toronto's Vitran Corporation Inc., say there is less to carry within Canada and across the border, and they're taking the hit on the bottom line. The dollar squeeze on Canadian manufacturers is expected to last through 2008.

"The Canadian dollar is killing the goose that laid the golden egg for the Canadian economy," said David Bradley, the Canadian Trucking Alliance's CEO. "Three-quarters of our exports go to the U.S., and steady growth in trans-border trade has fuelled trucking's expansion."
