"In the end I made the decision really because of my family," [Roenick] told The Canadian Press yesterday, adding that he's building a home in the Phoenix area. "And the fact I think Phoenix is going to be much improved with some of their recent moves."

"What really bothers me in this decision is that (Flames GM/coach) Darryl Sutter is so near and dear to my heart," said Roenick, who played for Sutter in Chicago. "He's always stood by me. It would have been a really good thing with him in Calgary but I had to do what's right for my family."
