At his best, [Norm Foster]'s observations about male-female relationships are sharp and hilarious, prompting couples in the audience to exchange elbows often during the 135-minute Prairie Theatre Exchange season-ender. But other attempts at mirth crash and burn, especially when they deal with stereotypes or hackneyed reactions to hackneyed situations. Director Rosemary Dunsmore does a credible job ensuring that the broad comedy doesn't get too silly.

His next neighbour is Gwen, a prim female driving instructor who claims to have left her husband because of "mucous roulette." Don't ask! In fact, it was her husband -- the only man she's ever been with -- who left her. [John Cummings] falls for her and the two seem a happy couple until a reborn Gwen suddenly announces she needs to return to her life in Vancouver.

Winnipeg's Sharon Bajer plays all three neighbours, and she carefully draws three distinct women. As [Fay] she is cool and world-weary, hardly ever cracking a smile. Bajer's effervescent performance of Angel's motto channels Jessica Simpson.
