Local hip-hop MC and producer (Dead Indians, Slangblossom) was hardly a household name until CBC Radio scooped him up to host critically praised series Live by the Drum. Now the host of Canada Live, Kinew's ambition is almost palpable. But unlike other artists, Kinew has the charisma (and the business sense) to pull it off. His debut solo album just dropped, and earlier this year he organized a big concert in memory of residential schools.
