[Phyllis Hildebrand] said that it would cost only about $20,000 to convert the high school in Ashern to K-12, to handle all three schools. "The capacity is about 450," but there are just 340 children in the two Ashern schools.

"Our projections indicate a pretty significant loss of students over the next five years," about 10 per cent of the 2,000 kids in Rolling River. "Things don't look good for the future," [Neil Whitley] said.

Lakeshore wants to close Fisher Branch Elementary School and convert Fisher Branch Collegiate into a K-12 school, and to close Ashern Early Years School and convert Ashern Central into a K-12, as of June 30, 2009.
