Senior First to Die From West Nile This Year

Summary


So far this year, 42 people have tested positive for West Nile virus. There have been four West Nile-related deaths in the province since 2003.

Dr. Joel Kettner, Manitoba's chief medical officer of health, said he would never predict how many people could succumb to West Nile virus.

"The weather is difficult to predict and people's behaviour is difficult to predict, but I won't be surprised if there are more deaths this summer," Kettner said.
