It's not just limited to Nissan: Honda's Civic is big enough that there's room for a Fit; Toyota's Corolla has grown to allow Yaris into the market and General Motors' small cars Cobalt and G5 have moved upmarket enough that Aveo and Wave have slipped in underneath.
On acceleration, however, the combination works quite well. And the CVT is the first automatic transmission that actually equals or betters manual transmissions for fuel economy. In the Sentra's case, the fuel economy is one-tenth of a litre per 100 km better with the CVT for city driving and four-tenths of a litre per 100 km better for highway driving.It's a decent small car that's big on style, big on drivability and big on comfort. That it's priced right in line with competitors such as the Civic, Corolla and Mazda3 means the choice will come down to subjectives.
