In the last issue, Robert Colman used this space to talk a bit about convergence - how accountants have to push changes in international accounting practices to create a stronger industry. A big part of that process is simply opening up the dialogue - getting organizations to talk to each other, to explore their similarities, their differences and the strengths that can be taken from each. This is a lesson that associations worldwide are taking to heart. Indeed, this summer, three UK accounting designations began discussing a possible consolidation. The consolidation is about gaining greater influence internationally and offering more effective service to the public - a potential win-win for accountants and their clients.
