The morning's final victim was a 20-year-old woman on her apartment's fifth-floor balcony on nearby Kennedy Street, who told police the man pointed the gun at her at 3:42 a.m. and pulled the trigger.

[Jacqueline Chaput] said police don't know what the motive was that triggered the man's rampage, and it's not known if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

"He was breaching certain court-imposed conditions, and that's all I'm going to say about that," Chaput said with a wink.
